Is Hoodia gordonii Safe?

Unfortunately, no one knows!

Anecdotal reports, as well as the limited "clinical" trials, suggest the Hoodia gordonii does not cause jitteriness, palpitations, insomnia or other adverse effects that are commonly reported with other weight-loss aids.

It has been postulated that Hoodia gordonii not only suppresses appetite, but also suppresses thirst

  • The suppression of thirst can lead to dehydration, which can potentially lead to dangerous medical complications
  • If choosing to use Hoodia gordonii, make sure to drink enough liquids!

People with Diabetes Mellitus should use caution

  • Some researchers have proposed that Hoodia gordonii may "trick" the brain into thinking that it has enough glucose, which could potentially lead to hypoglycemia
