Iridology can be practiced in several different ways, from the person-to-person approach to the "high tech" approach aided by computers.  Below is an overview of the techniques for Iridology readings.

  • Simple visualization of the eye by iridologist.
    • Often aided only by bright lights and a magnifying glass, Iridologists look  for tell-tale signs of disturbances in health.  Office visit and interpretation averages $75.

  • Slides of the iris.
    • This is convenient for many people especially since it may be difficult to find a local Iridologist.  You send a close-up picture of your iris (enjoy the blinding sensation due to the proximity of the flash) and check or money order.  In return you will receive written analysis of your iris and a list of recommendations for herbs and nutritional support specific to your needs. Often you will also receive a newsletter, book, or other "gift" from the Iridologist. Prices begin around $125.

  • Complex computer pictures are taken that look at number of pigment points or number of pigment bands, and then compared with standard minimums, maximums, and means for each.
    • 3-D maze spectroscopy
    • Digital elevation modes (think topographic maps).
    • Dynamic overlay (measures same exact area of iris at different times in illness and overlays them to study increases or decreases in pigment).
    • Hyperspectral data studies (take data from bands of pigment and compared with known chemicals).
