Overall, there is little evidence either for or against the macrobiotic diet, especially in its claims of cancer prevention/cure.  While the macrobiotic diet cannot be recommended over any of the recommended diets by agencies such as the ACS, it certainly should not be discouraged other than in young children and pregnant women.  There is certainly great room for research in this subject area although there is some difficulty with getting studies in this avenue of cancer treatment approved in the US due to its generally unaccepted nature among Western medicine.
