Conclusions Regardless of one’s stance on religion, spirituality, or thoughts of the after life, when one experiences an NDE, they do experience something profoundly life changing. The brain is a very complex organ and there is a lot that researchers don’t know about what it is capable of. With the many similar accounts of NDEs, it seems that there may be some physiologic explanation for the elements of an NDE. One of these elements, out of body experience, has been actually shown in the lab. Yet, the aftereffects of NDEs have no scientific explanation at this point, so we are left to wonder if such changes may occur.
