  • What is the theory?
    • In the alternative medicine arena, it is believed that because copper is such an essential element for our biochemical success, a constant supplementation of copper (in the form of a copper bracelet ) will not only replenish but further enhance our biological systems that use the copper-containing enzymes. (For details, visit  the biochemistry page)

  • How is the bracelet to be used?
    • The manufacturers recommend the bracelet  to be worn at all times and should never be taken off, not even while bathing. They also recommend the bracelet be replaced every two years.

  • What will the copper bracelet do for the user?
    • Those who use and sell the copper bracelet claim that it:

      •  Decreases the pain of arthritis

      • Improves golf and tennis swings

      • Decreases lower back pain

      • Provides more energy

      • Protects against osteoporosis

      •  Helps the body's immune system

  • What other copper products are on the market?

    • There are studies out on impregnating clothing, bedding, and other articles with copper to provide them with biocidal properties.  (For more information on this technology, check out the Cupron link)

  • Questions you should be asking...
    • If the copper bracelet maker claims their bracelets are pure copper, why do they suggest to replace a bracelet every two years?
    • Is there a proven benefit of wearing the bracelet all of the time versus taking a supplemental  vitamin containing copper?
    • Do we normally get enough copper in our average daily diet?  If we don't, can we make dietary changes with the same benefit as supplemental copper (vitamin or bracelet)?
    • Is there any benefit to taking more copper than the RDA?
