One randomized,
double-blinded, placebo-controlled, multi-center study of 80 patients
documented a 44% less functional decline in patients receiving 1,200
mg per day. A similar,
but smaller study of 28 patients also demonstrated symptom improvement
with a substantially lower dose (360 mg daily).
Migraine
A randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled trial
of 42 patients taking 300 mg recorded a 47.6% reduction in migraines
compared to the 14.4% reduction in the control group over a 4 month
period. NNT = 3.
