Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) can be classified as therapies that are not widely taught in medical schools nor generally available in hospitals. The CAM that is typically used in the therapy for hypertension can be classified into four major groups: Nutritional Supplementation, Herbs, Mind/Body Medicine, Detoxification Therapies, Ayurvedic Medicine, and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

The presented  findings in each of the groups are from review articles on CAM for hypertension as a whole or articles found while searching the MEDLINE database with the name of the therapy + hypertension with limits to articles in the last 10 years, English language, human, and clinical trial, meta-analysis, review, or clinical guideline.
