Dietary supplements containing melatonin have gained popularity in recent years.  This naturally occurring hormone is used most commonly for disturbances in sleep such as insomnia or jet lag.  The purpose of this website is to give a brief overview of the physiology of melatonin, its usefulness in sleep disorders, possible side effects, and contraindications.
