AKA: A'ra'r A'di, Ardic, Baccal Juniper, Dwarf, Gemener, Genievre, Hackmatack, Harvest, Horse Savin, Yoshu-nezu, Zimbro

Species: Juniper sabina, Juniper communis

Active Chemical Compound: volatile oils (terpinen-4-ol)

Traditional Use: Juniper has been use as a diuretic and to treat various kidney and bladder disorders.  Juniper has also been used as an abortifacient in folk medicine.

Uses:  Juniper is used in the production of gin.  Juniper is used medicinally as a diuretic, and to treat colic.  Juniper also reportedly has antimicrobial properties.

What you should know: Juniper is an abortifacient and may cause SAB.   Its use during pregnancy is not recommended.
