Plantain

AKA: Buckhorn, Cart Tract Plant, Flea Seed, French Psyllium, Lanten, Narrowleaf, Plantago Seed, Ribwort, Ripple Grass, Snakeweed, Way-bread, White Man's Fott, Wild Saso

Species:Plantago lanceolata

Active Chemical Component:alkaloids, flavenoids, various polysaccharides, iridoids, tannins

Uses:  Plantain is used topically in the treatment of wounds, burns, and various inflammatory disorders of the skin.  It is used internally as an antidiarrheal, an antitussive, and to treat UTIs.

What you should know:  Plantain has uterotonic activity and may result in SAB or preterm labor with prematurity.  Its use in pregnancy cannot be recommended.
