They also used the root as a hypoglycemic and analgesic. Ayurvedic medicine found Sweet Flag to be useful in treating a variety of digestive disorders. Used Today: Sweet Flag is used today as an antispasmodic in a variety of GI disorders. What you should know: Sweet flag has been shown to be mutagenic. Its potential as a teratogen has not been adequately studied and effects on the devolping fetus are unknown. Its use in pregnancy is not recommended. |
