INTRODUCTION
Society's increasing awareness and concern for animal rights, the
environment, and health have led more and more people to adapting a vegan
lifestyle. Approximately 0.2-1.3% of the U.S. population have now adapted this
lifestyle which avoids using or consuming animal products. Furthermore, products
that have been tested on animals are also avoided. Although honey and silk are
considered animal products, some vegans do use these items.
